Position: Full-Time Night Shift Respiratory Therapist
Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (with rotating weekends and holidays)

• This position is eligible for a generous sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 for those who qualify. A 2-year commitment to UPMC is required.

Role Purpose:

\n

Under the direction of a physician, you will provide essential respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies. Your expertise will be utilized across all patient populations and service areas.

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes.

\n
• Set up and operate respiratory devices, ensuring optimal treatment parameters.

\n
• Transport mechanically ventilated patients and respond to code situations.

\n
• Maintain detailed patient charts and order equipment repairs as needed.

\n
• Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and supervise students.

\n
• Assess patient conditions and determine appropriate therapy and medication dosages.

\n
• Monitor patients’ physiological responses and perform pulmonary function tests.

\n
• Consult with physicians regarding adverse reactions and treatment modifications.

\n

\n
• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program or students with a temporary license (with HR approval and official transcripts).

\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

\n
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required before the expiration of the temporary practice permit.

\n
• Maintain certification under NBRC requirements if credentialed after July 1, 2002.

\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

\n

\n
• CPR certification based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components within 30 days of hire.
\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
\n
• Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
\n
• Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
\n
• Act 33 with renewal
\n
• Act 34 with renewal
\n
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
\n
