Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care : Provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.

  • \n
  • Equipment Management : Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration apparatus.

  • \n
  • Clinical Assessment : Evaluate medical orders, interpret clinical data, and monitor patient responses to optimize treatment.

  • \n
  • Team Collaboration : Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  • \n
  • Education and Supervision : Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and supervise students during their training.

  • Education : Relevant certifications and degrees in respiratory therapy.

  • Experience : All levels of experience are welcome, from new graduates to seasoned professionals.

  • Skills : Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, and excellent communication abilities.

Education and Certification:

\n
    \n
  • Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Program : Completion of a program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) is required.

  • \n
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License : Must hold a valid RCP license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • \n
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) : Certification in either BLS or CPR is required.

  • \n
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) : Must be certified as an RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • \n
      \n
    • Note: Respiratory therapists who obtained their RRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002, must maintain their certification according to NBRC requirements.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR Certification : Must meet American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration component, within 30 days of hire.

  • \n
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) : Certification in either BLS or CPR is required.

  • \n
  • Osteopathic Respiratory Care or Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) : Must be licensed as a RCP.

  • \n
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) : Certification as an RRT is required.
